Job summary

Corning Advanced Optics in Keene, NH, seeks a summer engineering intern to support design, analysis, and manufacturing of high-precision opto-mechanical systems. You will join a multi-disciplinary team to develop, engineer, build, and test new products during a 10-week program.

The role emphasizes hands-on design with SolidWorks, GD&T, and simulations, plus opportunities for housing/travel assistance and a final project presentation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering/Technology.
• Basic understanding of mechanical design practices, fabrication and assembly techniques.
• High level of technical curiosity and ability to learn and develop skills in design and prototyping.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May-August 2027) with graduation in/after Dec 2027.
• Interested in Corning, Inc after graduation if a full-time opportunity arises.
• Willing to work at the posted job location.
• Ability to develop basic process knowledge, design prototype test systems, and perform proof-of-principle testing.
• Confident interacting with all levels of the organization.
• Experience with 3D mechanical design/CAD software such as SolidWorks and knowledge of GD&T.
• Ability to function in a multi-disciplinary product development team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of MatLab or Excel.
