Job summary

MKS Instruments in Irvine, CA seeks an Optics Fabricator to partner with Production, Engineering, Planning, and others to produce world-class precision optics. You will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor.

You will operate multiple polishing and generating machines, read routers and drawings to understand part specifications, and test optical parts using interferometers, calipers, micrometers, and other equipment. Maintenance keeps machines running at peak efficiency.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of related experience required.
• Basic computer skills and literacy.
• Good communication skills.
• Enthusiasm for working collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Run polishing and generating machines to process optical materials (e.g., fused silica, CaF2).
• Read routers and engineering drawings to understand part specifications and manufacturing processes.
• Test optical parts using interferometers, calipers, micrometers, and other test equipment.
• Troubleshoot and adjust equipment to achieve passing parts.
• Perform surface quality inspections to ensure parts are free of digs and scratches.
• Perform maintenance on machines to keep them running at peak efficiency.
