Job summary

MKS Instruments in Irvine, CA is seeking an Optical Coater to partner with engineering and cleaning teams in performing coating operations on parts and materials, while documenting results. You will report to the Operations and Manufacturing Manager and support coating and inspection activities on optics.

The role requires 2+ years of related experience and familiarity with inspection tools, vacuum systems, and thin film deposition processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Two or more years of related experience.
• Experience using inspection tools and devices (calipers, micrometers, microscope, height gauges, UV/VIS, ellipsometer).
• Experience performing pre-coat/post-coat inspection, cleaning, handling and packaging optics.
• Knowledge of coating and vacuum systems, thin film deposition tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform coating operations on parts, materials, and components and document results.
• Coordinate collection and disposition of coated material.
• Determine methods, sequences, and procedures for coating/inspection.
• Work from written procedures, drawings, sketches, and specs.
• Perform inspection/spectroscopy measurements when needed.
