Qualifications

• New York State Optician license (ABO/NCLE a plus).
• 1+ years of experience in a retail optical or optometry office.
• Proficiency in frame fitting, adjustments, and optical measurements.
• Familiarity with vision insurance plans and optical billing.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Detail-oriented with multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with optical practice management software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that meet their vision, lifestyle, and aesthetic needs.
• Interpret and fill optical prescriptions accurately for eyeglasses and contact lenses.
• Take precise measurements including pupillary distance, segment height, and fitting adjustments.
• Perform frame adjustments, repairs, and dispensing of finished eyewear.
• Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and contact lens care.
• Process and manage optical lab orders and maintain accurate patient records.
• Support front office operations including scheduling, insurance verification, and billing.
