Job summary

American Vision Partners (AVP) is seeking an Optician to assist patients with selecting and ordering eyewear, take measurements, and ensure proper care. You will educate on eyewear and contact lens wear and support high-volume patient service in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities include interpreting prescriptions, ordering eyewear from labs, inspecting lenses and frames, and performing repairs as needed. ABO/NCLE or LDO credentials are a plus, with training available as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• ABO/NCLE certification a plus; required within 6 months of hire
• Licensed Dispensing Optician (LDO) a plus
• Detailed oriented, reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills (Word and Excel)

Responsibilities

• Interprets prescription and helps patients choose appropriate eyewear, consulting with prescribing physicians as appropriate
• Takes optical measurements necessary for eyewear preparation
• Orders eyewear from laboratory based on prescription and patient preference
• Performs quality inspection of lenses and frames
• Adjusts eyewear to patient and instruct on cleaning and handling
• Makes repairs using appropriate parts and tools; maintains equipment and inventory
