Job summary

American Vision Partners (AVP) is hiring an Optician to assist patients with selecting and ordering eyewear, perform fittings, and educate on lens care. You will interpret prescriptions and coordinate with physicians as needed.

The role emphasizes accuracy, excellent communication, and strong computer skills in a fast-paced environment. ABO/NCLE are a plus and on-the-job training is offered if needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• ABO and NCLE is a plus, within 6 months of hire.
• Licensed Dispensing Optician (LDO) is a plus.
• Detail oriented, reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills including Word and Excel.
• Flexible schedule Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

• Interprets prescription and helps patients choose eyewear.
• Makes optical measurements for eyewear preparation.
• Orders eyewear from laboratory based on prescription and patient preference.
• Performs quality inspection of lenses and frames.
• Adjusts eyewear and educates on care and handling.
• Makes repairs using appropriate parts and tools; maintains equipment and supplies.
