Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club in Madison, WI is seeking an Optical Associate to dispense spectacles and assist patients with lenses and frames, following prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists. You will advise on style and fit, process orders, and work to meet member needs with a friendly, compliant approach.

The role emphasizes accuracy, privacy, and teamwork in a fast-paced retail environment; full-time availability and a willingness to engage customers daily are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of optical products and business practices preferred.
• High school diploma, college degree, and/or optical/retail experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational skills and attention to detail required.
• Open shift availability for full-time positions; at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Verify Rx data and ensure accuracy in the system.
• Deliver sales by providing excellent member service in person and over the phone; explain exam fees clearly.
• Take measurements and ensure correct frame selection for Rx power.
• Educate patients on available products to meet their visual needs.
• Maintain HIPAA privacy and assist with eyeglass adjustments and repairs.
• Be reliable for opening/closing procedures and ensure proper funds handling.
