Hours:
  • Full Time
  • Open Monday-Friday 8am-7pm, Saturday 8am-1pm; shifts vary within these hours
Requirements:

Essential Functions:
  • Promote frames and lenses recommended by the doctor
  • Adjust and repair glasses
  • Facilitate patient flow
  • Verify insurance
  • Communicate effectively with patients, doctors, and staff
  • Handle inquiries via phone, email, and in person
Job Summary:

An Optical Technician provides a world-class patient experience, supporting medical needs and retail sales. They dispense and fit glasses and contacts based on prescriptions, connecting patient needs with products and services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Build relationships with patients and support their medical needs
  • Assist in selecting frames based on style and facial measurements
  • Operate lensometers
  • Recommend lenses, coatings, and frames
  • Measure accurately (e.g., pupillary distance, eye size)
  • Dispense and repair glasses and contacts
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace
  • Follow safety and inventory protocols
  • Support practice goals and team environment
  • Work hours may include weekends and schedule adjustments
Patient Population:

All ages, races, and genders

Education, Licensure & Certification:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • ABO and NCLE certifications preferred but not required
Experience:
  • Medical office experience preferred; ophthalmic experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum 1 year customer/patient interaction or equivalent
  • Background check clearance
  • Proof of right to work in the U.S.

Physical Demands:

Includes standing, walking, lifting, and using hands for detailed tasks, with specific time allocations and weight limits specified.

Work Environment:

Office/clinical setting with potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and cleaning supplies. Use of PPE required.
