Job summary

Voyager Technologies is seeking an Optical Technician to support design, assembly, alignment, test, and integration of electro‑optical and photonic systems in a defense/aerospace environment. The role requires hands-on bench work and adherence to cleanroom protocols.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years in optics manufacturing/R&D, strong alignment and testing skills, and experience with MIL-SPEC programs; security clearance is preferred. California-based position with strong team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in Electro-Optics, Photonics, Electronics Technology.
• 6+ years hands-on experience as optical/electro-optical technician in defense/aerospace or precision optics environment.
• Proficiency in optical alignment, interferometric testing, and precision assembly of opto‑mechanical systems.
• Experience with fiber optic systems, free-space laser systems, or infrared imaging systems preferred.
• MIL-SPEC or government-contract experience.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and align precision optical components per engineering drawings and assembly procedures.
• Integrate electro-optical subassemblies into larger sensor or imaging systems, maintaining tolerances.
• Perform fiber optic splicing and cable routing for photonic subsystems.
• Support installation and integration of laser systems, detectors, and op‑mechanical hardware.
• Test optical performance using interferometers, autocollimators, spectrophotometers, power meters, and related equipment.
• Document test results and manage non-conformances; initiate corrective actions.
• Collaborate with optical/ mechanical engineers and program managers during verification activities.
