Job summary

Voyager Technologies in San Diego is seeking an Optical Technician to provide hands-on support for design, assembly, alignment, test and integration of electro-optical systems in a fast-paced defense environment.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of technician experience in optics/photonics, strong bench skills, and the discipline to operate in cleanroom settings; AS9100/ISO 9001 awareness is a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or better in Electro-Optics, Photonics, Electronics Technology or related field.
• 6+ years hands-on experience as optical/electro-optical technician in defense/aerospace/manufacturing environments.
• Strong bench skills and precision alignment proficiency.
• Coursework in geometrical optics, laser principles, or optical instrumentation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and align precision optical components per engineering drawings and procedures.
• Integrate electro-optical subassemblies into larger sensor and imaging systems; maintain mechanical/optical tolerances.
• Perform fiber optic splicing, connector termination, and cable routing for photonic subsystems.
• Support laser systems, detectors, and opto-mechanical hardware during integration.
• Document test results in travelers and engineering notebooks; flag non-conformances and drive corrective actions.
