Job summary

Voyager Technology Systems is seeking an Optical Engineer to design, analyze, and document precision optical systems for space and defense applications. You will decompose requirements, verify designs, and conduct performance analyses for star trackers, cameras, and laser communications.

You will perform stray light and STOP analyses, work with Zemax for design and tolerancing, and generate manufacturing drawings and alignment instructions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years designing precision imaging or laser optical systems
• Proficiency in Zemax OpticStudio with sequential design, tolerancing, Monte Carlo, and thermal modeling
• Experience taking an optical design from concept through tolerancing, release, build, and test

Responsibilities

• Optical requirement decomposition and verification planning
• Analyze optical performance and stray light (FRED)
• Perform STOP analysis and thermal modeling
• Design optics with Zemax and generate drawings for manufacturing
• Create test hardware to validate tracking and pointing algorithms
• Develop radiometric analysis and optical test plans/procedures
• Understand testing of high-performance optical sensors
