Job summary

Corning Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer to work with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Care to design passive optical networks and generate BOMs for Fiber-to-the-Home networks. The role includes developing MDUs, FTTB, and other access network solutions.

Qualified candidates have a 4-year engineering degree, strong CAD/GIS experience, and the ability to travel up to 25% (including international). Excellent communications and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 4-year engineering degree; mechanical or electrical preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to meet stringent deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Fundamental analytical problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Develop optimized passive optical network solutions for customers.
• Provide design support to achieve sound customer deliverables while maintaining relationships.
• Assist Sales on visits to present solutions and address technical issues.
• Perform multiple design iterations to meet customer requirements and corporate goals.
• Formulate technical solutions using core and newly released products.
• Balance optimization with customer needs to meet financial and strategic objectives.
• Maintain communication with internal teams throughout the design process.
• Collaborate in a design engineer team; support may be shared across roles.
