Corning is a world leader in specialty glass and ceramics; the Cable Development team seeks a Cable Development Engineer to drive next-generation fiber optic cable product and process development. You will work with global teams to solve customer problems, advance manufacturing capabilities, and create new IP for Corning.

The role requires a Mechanical or Materials Engineering background, 1+ year in development, CAD skills, and travel up to 25%, including international assignments.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering required.
• 1+ years of experience in product or process development.
• Experience in fiber optics, cable design, polymer extrusion, or UV curing.
• Familiarity with flame retardant materials and cable burn test standards.
• Experience with CAD software for mechanical drawings.

Responsabilidades

• Lead or contribute to regional and global cross-functional project teams, developing fiber optic cable products and processes from concept through manufacturing transfer.
• Design, develop, and optimize equipment and processes for cable development; investigate new processing techniques to enable innovative cable designs.
• Conduct research, design experiments, and analyze data to test hypotheses and deliver inventive solutions for new development efforts.
• Interface with suppliers and procurement to evaluate new polymeric materials, develop state-of-the-art equipment, and support customer application needs.
• Perform risk assessments of cable designs, materials, and processes; document and present findings in technical reports and presentations.
