Job summary

Big City Optical LLC in Chicago is seeking a General Manager to oversee our Optical Retail Store and drive exceptional customer satisfaction. You will manage day-to-day operations and lead a team of optical professionals with a strong focus on sales growth and service excellence.

The role emphasizes staff development, inventory oversight, and budget management, with a customer-centric culture at the core of daily activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED; college degree preferred.
• 3+ years in retail supervisory roles with a track record of achieving sales targets.
• 1 year of optical experience.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of eyewear products and optical technologies.
• Ability to manage time, lead a team, and solve problems proactively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and G-Suite; willingness to learn new tech.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, mentor and supervise a high-performing team of optical associates.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, growth-oriented work environment.
• Set sales targets and motivate staff to meet them.
• Prepare promotional materials and in-store displays.
• Ensure staff communicate Big City Optical’s value proposition to clients.
• Prepare schedules and manage staffing levels to meet coverage objectives.
• Lead staff meetings and disseminate communications from leadership.
• Manage store budgets and financial records; report trends to district manager.
• Stay informed on industry trends to develop team knowledge and skills.
• Oversee stock levels and coordinate with inventory to order eyewear and merchandising.
