Job summary

IPG Photonics in Oxford, MA is seeking an R&D technician to assist its daily operations with testing and manufacturing of laser systems, as well as ongoing R&D projects. This hands-on role requires knowledge of optical components, careful handling, and the ability to maintain records and documentation.

You will work with analytical instruments including power meters, beam profilers, spectrometers, optical spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in optics/engineering/physics required.
• Experience with reading schematics and handling precision components.
• Cleanroom experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble precision opto-mechanical and optical sub-assemblies.
• Inspect and test incoming optics.
• Test optical assemblies per requirements.
• Support Precision Assembly when capacity is low.
• Help generate product or sub-assembly docs and work instructions.
• Provide feedback to engineering on documentation.
• Assist ERP work order paperwork for costing and processing.
