Job summary

IPG Photonics in Oxford, MA is seeking an R&D technician to support daily operations with testing and manufacture of laser systems, and to assist ongoing R&D projects. The role requires handling precision opto-mechanical components, maintaining records, and using analytical tools in a lab setting.

The ideal candidate will have an associate degree or equivalent experience in optics or related technical fields, cleanroom experience, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in optics, engineering, physics, or related technical disciplines.
• Ability to handle precision opto-mechanical components.
• Ability to read optical and mechanical schematics from written instructions.
• Previous Cleanroom experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic software tools.

Responsibilities

• Assemble precision opto-mechanical and optical sub-assemblies.
• Inspect and test incoming optics.
• Test optical assemblies for compliance to the required specs.
• Assist in maintaining the precision assembly work center during peak demand.
• Assist in generating new product or sub-assembly documentation and work instructions.
• Provide feedback to engineering regarding errors or omissions in existing documentation.
• Assist in completing ERP work order paperwork for proper processing and costing of jobs.
