Job summary

IPG Photonics Corporation in Oxford, MA is seeking an R&D technician to assist daily operations with testing and manufacture of laser systems, and to support ongoing R&D projects.

This hands-on role requires knowledge of optical and opto-mechanical components, strong attention to detail, systematic documentation, and proficiency with analytical instruments such as power meters, beam profilers, spectrometers, optical spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent in optics, engineering, physics or related technical disciplines.
• Ability to handle precision opto-mechanical components and read schematics.
• Proficient with MS Office and strong technical writing skills.
• Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assemble precision opto-mechanical and optical sub-assemblies.
• Inspect and test incoming optics and optical assemblies.
• Maintain proper records and documentation for jobs.
• Assist in generation of new product or sub-assembly documentation.
• Provide feedback to engineering on documentation errors or omissions.
• Support ERP work orders for processing and costing.
