Job summary

Corning is seeking an Optical Measurement Systems Engineer for the CET Division Engineering Measurements & Controls group. The role focuses on developing and deploying optical and computer vision-based measurement systems to support metrology, inspection, and testing of Corning CET products at Painted Post, NY.

This onsite, 12-month contract involves end-to-end transfer of technology from development to manufacturing.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering with 3+ years of hands-on experience with machine vision and metrology equipment; or
• PhD in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
• Training or hands-on experience with vision systems is required.

Responsibilities

• Define, develop, and implement optical and computer vision-based measurement systems.
• Transfer technology from development to manufacturing for production readiness.
• Coordinate with external suppliers for system integration and core capabilities.
• Define scopes of work, quote, issue purchase orders, track supplier work, and approve invoices.
• Design experiments and analyze data to improve measurement systems and production processes.
• Create and update machine specifications, operating procedures, and drawing packages for production release.
• Train engineering, maintenance, and operations staff on measurement systems.
• Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting using data and performance analysis.
