Job summary

Corning is seeking a Measurements Engineer in Corning, NY. You will develop and deploy advanced optical metrology and machine-vision systems to support product development, quality control, and manufacturing operations.

You will transfer lab technologies to production, implement robust measurement solutions, and collaborate with Design, Quality, IT, Purchasing, and Operations teams. Travel ~25% within the U.S. is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or science field with practical internship experience.
• Hands-on experience with machine vision systems, including optics, lighting, cameras, and image analysis.
• Proficiency in Python and/or C# for data manipulation and system integration.
• Experience with image-processing tools: OpenCV, HALCON, LabVIEW, MATLAB.
• Strong data retrieval, visualization, and analysis skills (Python, MATLAB, Excel).
• Ability to travel ~25% within the U.S.; some international travel possible.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy measurement systems using optical metrology and machine vision.
• Develop laboratory prototypes and proof-of-concept demonstrations.
• Transition early-stage technologies into production-ready solutions.
• Develop image-processing algorithms for feature extraction and metrology.
• Apply computer vision and machine learning methods to production applications.
• Collaborate with external suppliers to deliver manufacturing-ready solutions.
• Partner with multiple teams to deliver effective measurement solutions.
• Design experiments, analyze data, and implement improvements.
