Southside Family Vision in Bay Shore, NY is seeking an in-house Optical Medical Biller to join our growing team. The role focuses on accurate optical and medical insurance billing, eligibility verification, and patient-facing communication in a fast-paced optical practice.

The position requires prior optical medical billing experience, familiarity with vision plans, ICD-10 and CPT codes, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while upholding patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Process and submit optical and medical insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and optical benefits prior to appointments.
• Review and resolve claim denials, rejections, and appeals with insurance carriers.
• Post payments, adjustments, and patient balances to accounts.
• Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding claims.
• Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries, balances, and payment plans.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and optical billing standards.

About the Role:

Southside Family Vision is looking for a in house detail-oriented and experienced Optical Medical Biller to join our growing team in Bay Shore, NY. This is a great opportunity to bring your billing expertise to a dynamic optical practice where accuracy and patient satisfaction are top priorities.

*Must live in Long Island NY

Responsibilities:

• Process and submit optical and medical insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and optical benefits prior to appointments
• Review and resolve claim denials, rejections, and appeals with insurance carriers
• Post payments, adjustments, and patient balances to accounts
• Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding claims
• Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries, balances, and payment plans
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and optical billing standards

Requirements:

• Prior experience in optical medical billing required
• Knowledge of vision insurance plans (VSP, EyeMed, Davis Vision, Spectera) strongly preferred
• Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and optical billing codes
• Experience with medical billing software and electronic claims submission
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
