Corning Inc. in Fairport, NY, seeks a Process Engineering Technician for optical fabrication. You will support precision optics manufacturing, drive process improvements, and collaborate with engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain to keep production at peak performance.

The role requires 7+ years in a manufacturing engineering technician capacity, hands-on optics fabrication and metrology, and proficiency with SAP, MES, SharePoint, and Power BI. First shift, <5% travel, Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of manufacturing technician experience in an engineering role.
• Deep knowledge of precision optics manufacturing methods (generation, polishing, testing).
• Hands-on experience with optical fabrication equipment and metrology; proficient with SAP, MES, SharePoint, and Power BI.
• Experience managing PM schedules and component inventory to support uptime.
• Ability to author technical documentation and deliver training to operations staff.
• Associate's degree in engineering or science; Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or Optical Engineering preferred.
• Hands-on experience with CNC-based generation and polishing, MRF, finishing processes and equipment.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or Creo for tooling and fixture design.
• Understanding of spherical/aspherical optics manufacturing methods and process improvements.
• Knowledge of optics specifications and customer conformance, including cleanliness and lens troubleshooting.
• Green Belt, Lean, PQA training.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily production support to resolve process upsets and identify improvements that reduce cost, increase capacity, and expand department capability.
• Manage production equipment health including PM schedules, component inventory, and upgrades/repairs.
• Partner with process engineering on new product introductions and capability gap assessments.
• Author technical documentation and deliver training to operations on standardized processes.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve production issues and support customer complaint responses.
• Perform manufacturing tasks in compliance with workplace standards, including housekeeping and autonomous maintenance.
