Job summary

Corning is seeking a Quality Engineer to strengthen quality management systems within an advanced optics manufacturing operation. You will translate customer and field requirements into clear standards, controls, and acceptance criteria—dispositioning audits, investigations, and process improvements that impact product quality and efficiency.

The role requires a BS in Engineering, 5+ years in manufacturing quality engineering, ISO 9001 knowledge, and proficiency with Minitab and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical degree.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, process, or quality engineering.
• Experience with internal and external quality auditing.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or experience in regulated product environments.
• Proficiency in Minitab or equivalent statistical analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Apply ISO 9001 quality standards to ensure product compliance and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes, including change management for process, product, and equipment modifications
• Optimize sampling plans and Quality Control (QC) methods; author and review SOPs, work instructions, and product specifications
• Lead root cause investigations and resolve customer complaints, applying structured problem-solving tools to address product and process performance issues
• Lead and support Performance Excellence (PEx) and Lean improvement projects targeting cost reduction, process optimization, capacity improvement, and complexity reduction
• Collaborate with Plant Engineering and Division innovation teams on new product qualification, validation, and specification development; conduct internal and external audits and provide technical training as needed
