Job summary

Sam's West, Inc. in Amarillo, TX seeks an Optical Department Leader to drive sales, oversee inventory and pricing, and coach the optical team under optometric supervision. You will perform precise eyewear measurements, fittings, and contact lens education while maintaining safety and confidentiality.

You will collaborate with labs and clinicians, manage scheduling, and promote patient/customer service excellence within regulatory guidelines. Strong leadership and clinical oversight are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail experience with supervisory responsibility.
• Optical experience and ABO timeline requirements are specified.
• Must meet state/regulatory requirements for optical licensure where applicable.
• ABO certification must be obtained within 15 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead optical department operations and staff development.
• Drive sales growth through merchandising, pricing accuracy, and inventory oversight.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and accurate documentation within supervision.
• Coordinate with labs, suppliers, and optometrists on orders and issues.
