Job summary

IDEX Materials Science Solutions (MSS), a unit of IDEX Corporation, seeks an Optical Assembly Technician 2 for the 2nd shift (2:00pm–10:30pm) in our clean‑room manufacturing environment. You will actively align optical elements into metal housings and verify performance with precision metrology equipment.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in precision optical assembly or metrology, strong optical principles knowledge, and the ability to document data and troubleshoot with engineering and quality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical optics training preferred.
• 3–5 years in precision optical assembly or metrology.
• Experience achieving micron-level alignment in production.

Responsibilities

• Perform active alignment of lenses and optical elements into metal housings.
• Use metrology tools to meet tolerances and verify performance.
• Bond optics securely while maintaining alignment during cure.
• Inspect optics and housings for defects.
• Document alignment data and final build conditions.
• Troubleshoot alignment challenges with engineering and quality teams.
