Job summary

IDEX Health & Science, LLC is seeking an Optical Assembly Technician 2 to perform advanced optical assembly and alignment in a controlled clean-room environment. You will actively align optical elements, verify performance, and permanently secure optics with high‑precision tools, maintaining tight tolerances.

You will collaborate with engineering and quality, document data, and contribute to process improvements. A diploma and optics-focused training or experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical certification/associate degree in optics or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in precision optical assembly or alignment.
• Experience achieving micron-level alignment in production/manufacturing environments.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform active alignment of lenses and optical elements into metal housings using precision fixturing.
• Use metrology tools to achieve required tolerances and verify performance.
• Adjust decenter, tip, tilt, and axial position to meet specifications.
• Apply adhesives and secure optics while maintaining alignment during cure.
• Inspect optical elements and housings for defects and dimensional accuracy.
• Document alignment data, measurements, and final build conditions.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve complex issues.
