Job summary

IDEX Materials Science Solutions, a unit of IDEX Corporation, seeks an Optical Assembly Technician 2 to perform advanced optical assembly and alignment in a clean-room environment. You will align optics to mechanical housings, verify performance with high-precision tools, and securely bond components while preserving alignment.

The role requires 3–5 years in precision optical assembly, strong metrology skills, and independence in solving alignment challenges.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; technical cert preferred.
• 3–5 years in precision optical assembly or metrology.
• Able to achieve micron-level alignment in production.

Responsibilities

• Perform active alignment of lenses and optical elements into metal housings.
• Use precision metrology tools to achieve required tolerances.
• Adjust decenter, tip, tilt, and axial position per specs.
• Permanently secure optics and verify alignment during cure.
• Inspect optics for defects and inspect housings for dimensional accuracy.
• Document alignment data and contribute to root-cause investigations.
