Job summary

Florida State University is seeking an OPS Technician in Tallahassee, FL to support ITS services for students, faculty and staff. The role involves configuring and maintaining computer systems, software, and peripherals, with routine diagnostics and problem resolution.

The position is temporary and may require driving to site premises; a valid driver’s license is required. The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with two years of experience or an equivalent combination.
• A valid Florida or Georgia driver’s license or ability to obtain one upon hire.

This position is within Information Technology Services (ITS).

Responsibilities

Provides quality, effective, reliable, and responsive ITS service support to FSU Students, Faculty and Staff regarding their computing needs. Preforms routine tasks in high level and secure systems. Configures, maintains, troubleshoots, or modifies computer, software, hardware, multimedia equipment, and related devices. Initiates routine diagnostics to determine cause of equipment or software failure and follows standard procedures for problem resolution. Installs and customizes application software. Performs other duties as assigned. A State vehicle, golf cart, or utility vehicle will be used to reach site premises. A valid driver's license will be needed in order to operate vehicle.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience or an equivalent combination of post high school education and experience.

A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain one upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic Scripting experience
• Multi factor authentication service support and configuration
• User and Group directory management Virtual environment support and configuration
• Managing directory services
• Experience with Microsoft Windows and MacOS.
• Experience with Microsoft Office 365 installation and troubleshooting
• Experience with Email Client configuration i.e. Outlook, Thunderbird, Macintosh Mail.app etc.
• Basic network configuration and troubleshooting skills required.
• Experience with computer operations, functions, and related peripherals
• Experience with documenting processes (new and existing).
• Experience prioritizing, organizing and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
• Experience working successfully in a team-oriented environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a varied group of managers and subject matter experts.
