This is a temporary Environmental Specialist position with the Florida Department of Health in Brevard County that conducts inspections of septic systems and aerobic treatment units, issues permits and enforcement actions, and investigates sanitary nuisance complaints. The role involves field work including soil profiling, site evaluations, and travel throughout Brevard County to regulate onsite sewage treatment systems.

Key qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with minimum 30 semester hours in public health, environmental health, environmental science, or physical/biological science
• Ability to use bucket auger and field measuring devices
• Ability to lift over 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions
• Valid Driver's license required
• Ability to travel throughout Brevard County up to 100+ miles per day
• Must obtain certification for Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems within 6 months of hire
