Florida Department of Health seeks an OPS Environmental Specialist I to perform septic system inspections, field inspections, and enforce regulations. The role involves data entry, reviewing applications, and issuing permits, with travel across Brevard County and external weather conditions.

Qualification includes a bachelor’s degree in relevant science, ability to lift 50+ pounds, and certification for Onsite Sewage within 6 months. English proficiency required; security checks apply.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 40 quarter hours in public health, environmental health, environmental science, or a physical or biological science.
• Ability to use PC and general office equipment.
• Use bucket auger to profile soils to 72", and ability to use field measuring devices.
• Ability to lift over 50 pounds.
• Travel to Brevard County locations up to 100+ miles daily.
• Work in inclement weather including 95+ degree weather.

Responsabilidades

• Conducts inspections of septic systems and Aerobic Treatment Units.
• Conducts field inspections of regulated facilities.
• Issues enforcement action for non-compliant Aerobic Treatment Units.
• Enforces septic system regulations.
• Data entry for inspections and other work.
• Reviews septic system applications.
• Writes and issues septic system permits.
• Uses bucket auger and other tools for soil profiling.
• Site evaluations for septic system suitability.
• Operates 4-wheel drive vehicles.
• Public education activities (in person, group, and phone).
• Attends trainings to stay updated on environmental health regs.
• Investigates sanitary nuisance complaints.
• Protects public health.
