Job summary

BayMark Health Services’ outpatient clinic seeks a compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to guide patients through medically assisted programs and coping strategies for opioid addiction.

The role includes conducting individual and group sessions, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, evaluating progress, and maintaining precise documentation in an EMR system to support high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing with clinical specialization, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of clinical experience (1,820 hours).
• Associate degree with 2 years clinical experience (3,640 hours).
• Full certification as an addictions counselor from a certification body.
• Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental attitude toward patients.
• Understanding of EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
• Coordinate care and present patient status to treatment team.
• Develop and implement patient treatment plans per state requirements.
• Provide clinical services and opiate addiction counseling.
• Excellent documentation and computer skills required.
• Other related duties as determined by supervisor.
