Job summary

BayMark Health Services in Massachusetts seeks a compassionate Substance Use Counselor to guide patients through medically assisted programs, offering coping strategies for opioid addiction. You will conduct group and individual sessions, assess progress, and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and therapists for optimal outcomes.

The role requires working with chemically dependent individuals, with a focus on crisis management and family involvement in recovery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of counseling experience.
• Master’s degree in Behavioral Science with at least 1 year of counseling experience.
• Certification: CAC, CADC, CADC II or MA LADC II; background check required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial assessments and evaluation interviews for service eligibility.
• Facilitates initial treatment planning with each patient.
• Completes bio-psychosocial assessment.
• Provides individual and group counseling; coordinates services throughout treatment.
• Involve families and significant others in patient recovery when possible.
• Respond to patient grievances and complaints.
• Develops aftercare and discharge plans.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
