Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks an AHN System Chair for the Department of Ophthalmology, based at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. The role leads clinical, translational research and patient care, shaping strategy, standards, and accreditation across inpatient and outpatient settings.

The Chair will drive research development, mentor staff, and collaborate with leaders to align division goals with AHN-wide objectives, including education, regional and international engagement.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with ophthalmology board certification.
• Completion of an ACGME-approved Ophthalmology Residency.
• Pennsylvania medical license prior to employment.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead and mentor in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all programmatic and operational aspects of Ophthalmology.
• Participate in regional, national, and international meetings.
• Contribute to education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Contribute to research including trials, publications, and investigator-initiated work.
• Develop opportunities for resident and fellowship training programs.
