Job summary

Duly Health and Care is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join a clinical team across Tinley Park, Oak Lawn, and other clinics as needed. You will perform extensive data collection, interact respectfully with patients, and support physicians in diagnosing ocular conditions.

Candidates should have a High School diploma, be a COT or pursuing certification within 12 months, and possess at least 2 years in ophthalmology settings. Travel to Joliet and Hinsdale clinics may be required.

• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred or in process; must obtain COT within 1 year.

Position Overview

Overview: Ophthalmic Technician Position Highlights: Ophthalmology Full-Time, 40 hours Hours: Monday-Friday; hours vary from 7:30AM-5:30PM Location: Tinley Park and Oak Lawn Travel: Expected to clinics in Joliet and Hinsdale when needed

Responsibilities

This individual is responsible for performing an extensive number of data collection functions, as delegated by the physician, to allow for proper diagnosis of the patients condition. Interacts with all patients using respect and professionalism. Communicates with patient about the processes and procedures taking place during their visit. Ascertains patient needs and unusual circumstances, via patient or family member. Seeks advice from more senior staff or doctors as necessary, never performing beyond capabilities. Provides telephone support regarding ocular emergencies, prescription refills and patient care questions. Adheres to approved policies and procedures. Obtains patient history to include chief complaint, history of present illness, past history, family history and history of allergies and medications. Completes accurate, concise documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Assists in maintaining the exam rooms by cleaning between patients and at the end of the day. Cleans and sterilizes instruments. Prepares to take certification test. Maintains HIPAA compliancy.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or is in the process of getting certification
• Must get COT certification within one year of being employed
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in ophthalmology/optometry setting
• Fundamental experience working with standard ophthalmic evaluation equipment

Compensation

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $20.55-30.85 with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
