Job summary

Duly Health and Care in Tinley Park, IL is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join a physician-led, patient-centered team. You will support comprehensive eye care through data collection, imaging, and patient education, under physician supervision.

The role requires COT certification (or in progress), at least two years in ophthalmology/optometry, and strong EMR documentation skills. Travel to Joliet and Oak Lawn may be required. Competitive benefits and a 401(k) match are provided.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or is in the process of getting certification.
• Must get COT certification within one year of being employed.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in ophthalmology/optometry setting.
• Fundamental experience working with standard ophthalmic evaluation equipment.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with all patients using respect and professionalism.
• Communicates with patient about the processes and procedures taking place during their visit.
• Ascertains patient needs and unusual circumstances, via patient or family member.
• Seeks advice from more senior staff or doctors as necessary, never performing beyond capabilities.
• Provides telephone support regarding ocular emergencies, prescription refills and patient care questions.
• Obtains patient history to include chief complaint, history of present illness, past history, family history and history of allergies and medications.
• Completes accurate, concise documentation in the EMR.
• Performs visual acuity, confrontational visual fields, motility, pupillary tests, tonometry, refractometry, OCT, corneal topography, and keratometry.
