Job summary

EyeSouth Partners’ Eye Center of St. Augustine is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to assist ophthalmologists and optometrists. You will perform clinical tests, take patient histories, and document findings in the EMR, while supporting patient education and maintaining exam room readiness.

The role requires ophthalmic technician experience, strong communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment within a multi-location Eye Center.

Qualifications

• Ophthalmic technician experience required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Current iJCAHPO COA certification preferred.
• Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred.
• Ophthalmic and/or optometric technician experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Review patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Perform testing ordered by doctor as per exam type, patient history, or complaint.
• Enter data into electronic medical records as a medical scribe.
• Take ocular and systemic history and record visual acuity.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under physician direction.
• Assist with simple in-office procedures and obtain informed consent.
• Assist with patient education.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms.
• Report inventory and supply needs to leadership; participate in daily team huddles.
