Job summary

Eye Center of St. Augustine is seeking an ophthalmic technician to support ophthalmologists and optometrists by collecting data on ocular health and performing clinical tests.

The role involves patient chart reviews, testing, and data entry as a medical scribe, with responsibility for histories, medication administration, and in-office procedures. Qualifications include ophthalmic technician experience and preferred COA certification; Nextech/ICP exposure is a plus, with strong communication

Qualifications

• Ophthalmic Technician experience required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Perform testing ordered by doctor and determined by the type of exam scheduled, patient complaint and/or patient history.
• Act as a medical scribe while physician examines patient, entering data into electronic medical records.
• Takes an ocular and systemic history and accurately records visual acuity.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.
• Assist with simple in-office procedures and ensure informed consent is obtained.
• Assist with patient education.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the workday.
• Comply with all practice procedures, protocols, and state/federal regulations.
• Report inventory and supply needs, participate in daily team huddles, and support ongoing tasks.
