Job summary

EyeSouth Partners is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician/Assistant to support ophthalmologists and optometrists across multiple locations. The role involves data collection on ocular health, performing tests, and documenting findings in the EMR.

The ideal candidate has high school diploma, 3+ years as uncertified ophthalmic assistant, COA eligibility preferred, and familiarity with Nextech/ICP. Strong communication and teamwork are essential in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as uncertified ophthalmic assistant preferred.
• COA Eligibility preferred.
• Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Review patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Perform testing ordered by doctor and determined by the type of exam scheduled.
• Act as medical scribe while physician examines patient, entering data into electronic medical records.
• Take an ocular and systemic history and record visual acuity.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under physician direction.
• Assist with simple in-office procedures and ensure informed consent is obtained.
• Assist with patient education.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms.
• Report inventory and supply needs to leadership and participate in team meetings.
