Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Vision Services Assistant (V.S.A.) to support Eye Services providers and operations. Under the supervision of the Chief of Ophthalmology, the VSA enhances patient interactions through ophthalmic testing and assistance with visits and clerical tasks.

The role includes preparing for testing, scheduling procedures, taking messages, registering patients, maintaining equipment and inventory, and ensuring accurate EMR documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years experience in objective ophthalmic testing.

Responsibilities

• Measures and records intraocular pressure (tonometry).
• Measures complete visual acuity for all ages and ocular diagnoses.
• Administers topical eye medications per physician order.
• Performs ophthalmic testing and automated image capture.
• Schedules Optometry/Ophthalmology appointments and procedures.
• Prepares medical information for providers (records, forms, results).
• Documents ocular histories in the EMR and handles data entry.
• Sets up and assists with minor eye surgical procedures.
• Maintains supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Communicates with patients and documents dispositions.
