Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support ophthalmic care within established policies and procedures. You will assist providers in exams, perform a range of ophthalmic tests, and help with preoperative and postoperative care in a fast-paced clinic.

The role requires hands-on ophthalmic testing, instrument setup, and accurate documentation in the EMR. Travel between listed clinics may be required to support patient care.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time ophthalmic technician experience or completion of a JCAHPO-accredited program.
• Proficient in ophthalmic testing, including visual fields, OCT, HRT, and intraocular pressure measurements.
• Experience with EMR documentation and patient instrumentation setup.

Responsibilities

• Screen patients for chief complaint and obtain history of ophthalmic illnesses and medications.
• Perform ophthalmic testing (distance/near vision, pupil size, lensometry, tonometry, visual fields).
• Conduct OCT, HRT, IOL biometry readings and intravitreal injection setup.
• Assist doctors during examinations, minor surgery, and laser procedures.
• Maintain exam lanes, sterilization, and instrument readiness.
• Provide administrative support, schedule appointments, and update EMR.
