Job summary

St. Lucie Eye Associates, affiliated with EyeSouth Partners, seeks an ophthalmic technician to support ophthalmologists and optometrists in clinical testing and data collection. You will perform tests, enter data into EMR, and assist with procedures while maintaining patient education and room readiness.

The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• COA Eligibility preferred; experience as ophthalmic assistant is a plus.
• Minimally 3 years of ophthalmic assistant experience is preferred.
• Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist ophthalmologist and optometrists with data collection for ocular health.
• Perform tests ordered by doctor and document results in EMR.
• Act as medical scribe during exams and enter data into the EMR.
• Take ocular and systemic history and record visual acuity.
• Administer medications under physician direction.
• Assist with in-office procedures and obtain informed consent.
• Educate patients and maintain exam room cleanliness.
• Ensure compliance with protocols and regulations.
• Report potential errors to supervisor or Compliance Officer.
