Job summary

EyeSouth Partners is seeking an ophthalmic assistant to support Vitreo Retinal Associates in a fast-paced clinical setting across North Florida locations. You will review patient records, perform tests, and assist physicians during examinations, with opportunities for ongoing professional growth.

The role emphasizes accurate charting, patient education, and collaboration within a supportive team. A high school diploma and COA eligibility are preferred; Nextech/ICP experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience as ophthalmic assistant or related role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Perform tests ordered by physician and schedule-based exams.
• Act as medical scribe and enter data into EMR.
• Take ocular/systemic history and record visual acuity.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications under physician direction.
• Assist with simple in-office procedures and obtain informed consent.
• Educate patients and maintain exam room cleanliness.
• Follow all practice procedures and state/federal regulations.
• Prepare inventory and assist with supply orders.
• Participate in daily team huddles and routine meetings.
• Provide medication instructions to patients.
• Report potential errors to supervisor or Compliance Officer.
