Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ophthalmic/optometric technician experience preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy of information
• Perform testing ordered by doctor and determined by exam type/history
• Act as a medical scribe entering data into EMR
• Take ocular and systemic history and record visual acuity
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under physician direction
• Assist with in-office procedures and informed consent
• Maintain exam rooms and assist with patient education and compliance with regulations
• Report inventory and supply needs and participate in team huddles and meetings

Clinical

• Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Perform testing ordered by doctor and determined by the type of exam scheduled, patient complaint and/or patient history.
• Ability to act as a medical scribe while physician examines patient, entering data into electronic medical records
• Takes an ocular and systemic history and accurately records visual acuity.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.
• Ability to assist with simple in-office procedures ensures proper informed consent is obtained.
• Assists with patient education.
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the workday.
• Complies with all practice procedures and protocols. Complies with all State and Federal regulations.

Administrative

• Report inventory and supply needs to leadership timely and as needed for supply ordering
• Participate in daily team huddles and regularly scheduled meetings as planned and required.
• Understand and accept responsibility to report potential or suspected errors to supervisor or Compliance Officer
• Contribute to the team effort by completing additional tasks or projects as needed.
• Maintain positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism
• High School Diploma or the equivalent years related experience preferred
• Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred
• Ophthalmic and/or optometric technician experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
