Chicago Eye Consultants in Stickney, IL is seeking an energetic Ophthalmic Technician to join a collaborative ophthalmology team. The role includes preparing patients for exams, conducting preliminary testing, and assisting physicians during procedures. Opportunities exist to grow within a multi-specialty eye care practice.

The position emphasizes patient care, teamwork, and a positive office culture. Travel to other locations may be needed to support clinical needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience in multi-specialty clinic preferred.
• NextGen EPM certification preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, staff, managers, and doctors.
• Basic computer literacy required.
• Highly energetic with a positive attitude.
• Must be willing to travel to other offices occasionally to meet the demands of business.
• Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours.
• Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly lit setting.
• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) preferred.
• Certified Ophthalmic Scribe (OSC) preferred.
• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Make introductions and establish rapport with patients.
• Initiate patient evaluation and document the chief complaint and ocular findings.
• Perform pre-exam testing including visual acuity and tonometry.
• Assist with minor surgical procedures or laser treatments in the office.
• Assist with fitting contact lenses and patient education on care.
• Open and close exam lanes daily and maintain equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain professional conduct with colleagues.
