Job summary

Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston (OCB) is hiring an Ophthalmic Assistant to support physicians with patient data collection and diagnostic testing in a fast-paced ophthalmology setting. The role emphasizes hands-on training with a clear path to JCAHPO certification within 24 months.

The position follows a Monday–Friday full-time schedule with no nights or weekends, and requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 0-1 years ophthalmic assistant experience preferred; training provided.
• Strong math and science skills; good data entry ability.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians in gathering patient data and performing diagnostic tests.
• Conduct visual acuity testing, visual field testing, lensometry, auto refractometry, refractometry, pupil assessment, and tonometry.
• Maintain patient medical records and ensure efficient workflow in a clinical setting.
• Participate in employer-sponsored training and work toward JCAHPO certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant within 24 months.
