Job summary

Allina Health is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support ophthalmology services across Bandana Square Clinic, Hastings Clinic, and Cottage Grove Clinic in Minnesota.

You will perform preliminary ocular testing and vision screening, assist with exams and in-office procedures, operate a manual lensometer and keratometer as needed, coordinate referrals, and help schedule surgeries and postoperative visits.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years medical/optical experience.
• Knowledge of complete eye exam tests and procedures and surgical assisting procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient preparation, assessments and eye exams.
• Collects vital signs, medication reconciliation, allergies and chief complaint.
• Collects patient and family ocular history.
• Performs preliminary and advanced testing as needed.
• Administers medication as needed for examination.
• Records all pertinent information in the electronic medical record.
• Opens and closes patient rooms at beginning and end of the day.
• Provides surgical support for in-office procedures and laser treatments.
• Schedules surgeries and obtains prior authorizations and referrals.
