Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• EMR experience preferred.
• Ophthalmic or healthcare experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and collect information for the EMR.
• Explain what to expect and inform about delays.
• Document chief complaint, present illness, and medical history.
• Record patient information per established standards.
• Perform diagnostic testing: visual acuity, eye muscle function, pupil size/reactivity, tonometry, lensometry.
• Administer eye drops for anesthesia, dilation, or medications.
• Assist with minor procedures and laser treatments; prepare sterile fields.
• Educate patients on medications and pre/post-operative instructions.
• Scribe for physicians as needed.
• Protect patient information per HIPAA and maintain confidentiality.
• De-escalate patient concerns with problem-solving.”
• Stay current with ophthalmic technologies and answer questions within scope.
• Assist team and complete other projects.
