Job summary

Northwest Eye, with five locations in the Twin Cities metro, seeks a full-time Ophthalmic Tech for the Minnetonka Crosstown clinic. This 40-hour position runs Monday through Friday, 7 am to 5 pm, with occasional travel to Golden Valley, Maple Grove, St.

Anthony, and Wayzata. Starting pay is $21.00 per hour, and the role includes patient testing, education, room management, and supporting ophthalmic examinations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Optometry or ophthalmology experience preferred.
  • JCAHPO certification preferred.
  • Contact lens experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document ophthalmic tests (visual acuity, keratometry, tonometry) for exams.
  • Educate patients about diagnostic testing and upcoming clinic visits.
  • Open/close exam rooms; keep equipment clean and stocked.
  • Inform patients about test purposes and potential effects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary

Northwest Eye, with five locations throughout the Twin Cities metro area, is among the largest specialty eye care providers in the Midwest. We are looking for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Ophthalmic Tech to work at our Minnetonka (Crosstown) clinic. This 40‑hour per week position will work Monday‑Friday from 7 am to 5 pm and will also require occasional travel to other Northwest Eye clinics (Golden Valley, Maple Grove, St. Anthony, Wayzata). The starting pay is $21.00 per hour.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Perform and document subjective and objective ophthalmic testing efficiently to provide basic information necessary for ophthalmic examinations, including history, visual acuities, lensometry (manual and auto), refractometry, keratometry (manual and automated), visual fields, tonometry, and contact lens I&R’s.
  • Educate patients regarding diagnostic testing and their clinic visit.
  • Open and close exam rooms; ensure all equipment is clean and ready for the doctor and that all supplies are stocked.
  • Inform patients of the purpose of each test performed and how it may affect them during the tests.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
