Job summary

Virginia Eye Consultants in Suffolk, VA seeks an Ophthalmic Scribe to document visits, manage EMR, and support physicians across multiple offices. The role requires travel to Norfolk, Hampton, and Virginia Beach, with mileage reimbursement and starting pay of $18-21 per hour DOE.

The Scribe will assist in keeping the clinic efficient, maintain accuracy in coding and documentation, and ensure HIPAA compliance while providing empathetic patient care.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology and common abbreviations.
• Efficient in using EMR and accurately recording information.
• Strong typing, spelling, grammar and oral communication skills.
• Good communication and coordination with health-care team.
• Organizational skills focused on tracking patient care and flow.
• HIPAA confidentiality standards compliance.

Responsibilities

• Document medical visits and procedures as performed.
• Manage Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for patients.
• Understand ICD-9 codes when inputting into EMR.
• Ensure accurate procedure coding and charges for all patients.
• Anticipate physician needs to facilitate clinic flow.
• Open and close exam rooms as needed.
• Assist with testing and maintain room flow.
• Be discreet and professional to avoid distracting staff.
• Travel between offices as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
