Retina Institute of Virginia LLC in Richmond is seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe to document patient visits and manage EMR workflows. The role supports physicians by ensuring accurate coding and efficient patient care in Ophthalmology.

The position requires travel to all RIV locations, with mileage and travel time paid. Pay ranges from $18 to $25 per hour, depending on experience. Office duties include charting, data entry, and coordinating with the care team.

Qualifications

• Medical terminology knowledge and accepted abbreviations.
• Efficient EMR use and accurate record-keeping.
• Strong typing, spelling, grammar and oral communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate and cooperate with multiple members of the health care team.
• Organizational skills to track patient care and improve flow.
• HIPAA confidentiality compliance.
• Energetic and empathetic with patients; positive rapport with staff.
• Flexibility in job assignments.

Responsibilities

• Document medical visits and procedures in real time.
• Manage the EMR for patient records.
• Input ICD-9 codes into the EMR system.
• Ensure correct procedure coding and charges for all patients.
• Travel between offices to support coverage.
• Open and close exam rooms as needed.
• Assist with testing and maintain clinic flow.
• Maintains discretion to not distract medical staff from patient care.
• Demonstrates strong organization and attention to detail.
