Job summary

Retina Institute of Virginia in Richmond seeks an Ophthalmic Scribe to support physicians by documenting visits in real-time, managing EMR records, and ensuring accurate coding. The role requires traveling between RIV locations, with mileage and travel time reimbursed.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement: High school diploma or GED.
• One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately document medical visits and procedures as performed by the physician.
• Manage the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for patients.
• Understand examination/procedure codes (ICD-9) in the EMR system.
• Ensure correct procedure coding/charges and accurate diagnoses.
• Assist physician needs to improve clinic flow.
• Open/close exam rooms as needed.
• Assist with testing and maintain clinic flow.
• Maintain discretion and professionalism to avoid distracting staff.
